The last place we visited seemed to be known more for its deli than its wines, but both were very good. Their tasting room was married to an impressive market with more cheeses than I knew existed, a wide range of meats, salads and sandwiches, olive oils, spreads… the list goes on.

It seems that many come here for lunch, buying sandwiches, a bottle and eating on the grounds which is peppered with tables and benches for that very purpose. The original plan was to line our bellies here, which we did, then newly energized hit a few more wineries, which we did not. We’re not crying old age, but our tastings have tamed considerably over the last few years. I suppose multivitamins are next. Fine. We’re just not quite ready for the days-of-the-week pillboxes yet. One step at a time.

This was a great way to wrap things up. The icing on the cake was that, other than lunch and tips, the resort covered the cost of our tastings. Napa has never been so affordable. #highfive
